To Our Valued Patients:

We are currently open between the hours of 9 AM – 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

To protect our office staff and patients, we are requiring that patients wear a mask while in the office.  Due to a national shortage of masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE), we kindly ask patients to bring a mask with you to your appointment.

In order to maintain appropriate social distancing in the office, we are not overlapping scheduled appointments. In order to support this plan, we kindly ask patients not to bring family members or friends to their appointments unless needed for translation or other necessary services. Additionally, if you arrive early, please wait in the parking lot until your scheduled appointment time.

Thank you for your understanding,

Drs. Calkin and Boudreaux and the entire CB Team

Xeomin®

X out those frown lines with Xeomin!

I like that it is pure–with nothing added. That’s what interested me…with what’s going on in the world today, who doesn’t need their expression eased off a little bit? Oh, you know what? Actually my forehead just looks smoother, but I can move it. I can do all of those expressions.” — Christie Brinkley, in an interview with Coveteur

What Is Xeomin®?

Xeomin is a prescription neurotoxin injectable medicine used to weaken expression muscles next to the surface of the skin. Wrinkles are temporarily flattened as treated muscles have less strength to pull on the face. With consistent use, it can lessen wrinkles as the skin may remodel more smoothly as the body naturally metabolizes the product.

What sets Xeomin apart from other neurotoxin injectables?

Xeomin has no additives; it contains only botulinum toxin type A. Protein additives in other neurotoxins may be registered by the body as foreign matter, triggering it to develop antibodies, meaning that some patients develop a resistance to neurotoxins which can shorten the peak period of results.

Xeomin’s purity also reduces the risk of an allergic reaction and allows it to be stored at room temperature, rather than in refrigeration.

Which conditions can be treated?

Xeomin was originally intended to treat frown lines between the eyebrows. It is now FDA approved and can be used on-label and off-label to treat crow’s feet, lines across the forehead, gummy smiles, mouth and chin wrinkles, and when injected strategically can give the appearance of eye or brow lift.

Like other neurotoxins, it can also be used to treat excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis) and chronic migraines.

Is Xeomin right for me?

If you feel like other neurotoxins are not as effective as they used to be, you may have developed immunity to proteins in their formulations. Because Xeomin is additive-free, it may be a solution to get you the results you want, without your body working extra fast to rid your system of the product.

If you are over 18 and have moderate frown lines, you may be a candidate. Consultations are always no-obligation and free – book now!

Key Benefits and Typical Results

• Temporary reduction of mild to moderate lines and wrinkles.
• Another option in your customized treatment plan.

How do I prepare for treatment?

Please fully disclose any medical conditions or if you have experienced side-effects from other neurotoxins. You’ll complete medical history forms, including detailing all medicines, vitamins, and herbal treatments you take. And we’ll need to know your cosmetic injectable history.

What happens during treatment?

A typical appointment requires about 20 units and takes 10-20 minutes. You may receive a topical anesthetic or an ice pack if you feel discomfort.

Post-treatment care or downtime?

You may immediately resume normal activities. Avoid rubbing or scratching your face.

How long until I see results?

Visible smoothing may be seen 3-5 days after injection, with gradual improvements for around a month after treatment.

How long will results last?

Three to four months is typical for peak results.

What is the science?

Botulinum toxin type A acts upon the injected muscle’s nerve endings, preventing the muscle fibers from contracting and pulling on the skin.

Two randomized, double-blind, blacebo clinical trials of adult patients have proven Xeomin effective. FDA approval was granted in 2011.
