Sculptra^™

Referred to by some physicians as a "face lift in a bottle", Sculptra represents a new and unique non-invasive option that helps facial skin naturally regain a more youthful and natural-looking appearance. 

Derived from fruit acids, Sculptra is an injectable material known as poly-L-lactic acid that naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen. 

The result is a fuller, smoother, more youthful and natural-looking face with less pronounced lines, creases, wrinkles and folds. Unlike localized fillers, Sculptra is used to increase skin thickness and restore volume over large areas of the face.

The improvement provided by Sculptra^™ is not immediate, but rather increases over time and it is long lasting. In studies, the results of treatment have been observed to last for up to two years in most patients. Three to five treatments may be necessary in order to achieve optimum results. As with the other fillers, side effects are uncommon and are usually limited to temporary bruising and swelling at the treatment sites.

The product is approved worldwide for treatment of facial wrinkles and folds, but in the United States, the FDA has granted approval for its use as a filler in patients with HIV lipoatrophy, a condition which mimics dramatic facial aging. Use of Sculptra in non-HIV patients is an off label indication.
