Juvéderm™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Juvéderm™ provides a smooth, natural look and feel. It also creates a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin during the injection process and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color. It is also the only hyaluronic acid based filler FDA approved to last up to one year. Like the other hyaluronic acid products, Juvederm is used for treating the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, plumping the lips and filling the under eye hollows.
Juverderm is injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. Patient comfort is our priority and topical or local anesthesia is always offered to minimize or even eradicate pain.
Prior to treatment, avoid using aspirin, NSAIDS, (e.g. ibuprofen, Motrin Advil, Naprosyn, Aleve) St. John’s Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with your doctor, who may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence. There may be temporary redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites. Otherwise, side effects are extremely uncommon.
